    The Community Health Assessment (CHA) is a collaborative effort with Healthy People Wood County, Wood County Health Department, Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Clinics, and Marshfield Clinic Health System.

  • Wood County Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) 2020-2024

    The Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is a community collaboration between the Wood County Health Department, Marshfield Clinic and Aspirus that provides direction and plans to address identified health priorities found in the Community Health Assessment, including substance use, mental health, youth health, and housing.

  • Impacts of COVID-19 in Wood County - Qualitative Data Project Report 2024

    The Wood County Health Department and partner organizations collaborated to conduct 72 one-on-one interviews and six focus groups, reaching a total of 123 community members. These conversations invited discussion about the challenges and unexpected positives due to the pandemic, and solutions to improve health outcomes moving forward.

  • Healthy People Wood County 2022 Year in Review

    The Community Health Assessment (CHA) is a collaborative effort with Healthy People Wood County, the Wood County Health Department, Marshfield Clinic Health System and Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Clinics. Surveys, community conversations, and key informant interviews identify the greatest health needs, community assets, and ideas to develop a comprehensive plan for health improvement.

  • Wisconsin Rapids Downtown Farmers Market Health Impact Assessment (HIA) 2023

    This HIA examined the potential positive and negative health impacts of a farmers market’s permanent structure, location, built environment characteristics, and accessibility as they relate to local food, local economy, and social connectedness. The recommendations for the Wisconsin Rapids Downtown Farmers Market are provided in this report, and are based on predicted health impacts determined by an extensive literature review and local primary and secondary data, which includes direct data from the community input obtained at the farmers market and via an online survey.

  • Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) Data Reports

    Every two years the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction partners with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to survey middle and high school students. The survey asks students about their health behaviors like safety, violence, mental health, drug use, sexual behavior, nutrition, and more. After the survey results are in, Healthy People Wood County creates a report sharing the data and the trends.

  • Wood County Bike Share 2022 Report

    River Riders Bike Share and Marshfield Community Bike Share are successful programs that bring additional transportation and recreation options to Wood County. This report looks back at the programs success in 2022.

  • Wood County Health Equity Report 2021 

    Across Wood County there are significant differences in health outcomes from one zip code to the next and among racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. The Wood County Health Equity Report provides an overview of health equity, data on health inequities in Wood County, and the role individuals and organizations can play in achieving health equity.

  • Wisconsin Rapids Downtown Senior Housing Development Health Impact Assessment (HIA) 2018

    This HIA examined how quality affordable housing, site design, and street and sidewalk design each related to active living, safety, and social cohesion and wellbeing. The resulting recommendations are based on the project leads’ extensive literature review of predicted health impacts, as well as their active engagement with developer Northpointe Development Inc., and a community input workshop to ensure the community had a voice in the planning of the housing development. All of these elements made for a transparent and ultimately successful process.

  • Healthy People Wood County Community Engagement Guide for Advancing Health Equity

    Community engagement is a long-term process in which community members are partners in identifying action steps that can be implemented to improve health. This guide provides strategies and recommendations to create a culture of community engagement.
